Under the guidance of B.K.S. Iyengar, IYNAUS established the set of guidelines found in its Iyengar Yoga Certification Manual. The guidelines are used to assess and certify teachers within the Iyengar Yoga tradition, but their intention extends far beyond testing. By applying them with conscientious rigor, teachers develop effective and inspirational teaching tools.
Topics to be covered:
• Voice and pacing techniques
• Observation and language skills
• Methods of correction, including hands on adjustments
• Ways to enhance teaching presence and class participation
Sessions will include peer teaching and written assignments based on each skill set. All levels of teaching will be addressed in order to provide context for the linking of poses as they progress from one level to the next.
Note: We recommend students attend Anna’s pop-up classes on Saturdays July 13, 20, 27, and August 3. The pop ups are designed to provide specific examples of how teaching skills progress from one level to another.
