Description

Yoga and Equity Symposium
In our current moment, all of us are being called to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a yogi.

This series of facilitated discussions and presentations, offered throughout 2020-21 by the IYNAUS DEIJ Committee, aims to help us understand race equity and inclusivity as it relates to our personal yoga practice and, for those of us who teach, our teaching. We will talk about causes, effects, systems and solutions within our yoga community and how to become active participants in creating a safe space for all those who wish to practice and teach Iyengar Yoga. We will collectively shape the future of Iyengar yoga in bold, truthful, and empowering ways.

Join us for our first topic, a facilitated, participatory conversation with prominent Diversity/Inclusion consultant and Iyengar yoga practitioner Cheryl Clarke. We will establish Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice (DEIJ) foundational principles, common language, and greater sensitivity in how we communicate.

This series is open to all and offered at no cost to participants and qualifies for CE hours for CIYTs.
