IYNAUS - DEIJ Presents Access and Inclusion

Saturday, December 5, 2020

In our current moment, all of us are being called to deepen our understanding of what it means to be a yoga practitioner.

Join us for our second topic, a Listening/Learning Circle dedicated to access and inclusion, moderated by global diversity and leadership consultant Betsy Silva, featuring Iyengar Yoga community members speaking about their own experience. Smaller facilitated breakout sessions, led by trained facilitators, will give participants an opportunity to practice svadhyaya (self-study) in discussing our own personal challenges in practicing inclusivity. We will discuss steps to make Iyengar yoga more widely accessible and to support and give BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and underrepresented practitioners a stronger voice in the Iyengar community.

This series of facilitated discussions and presentations, offered throughout 2020-21 by the IYNAUS DEIJ Committee, aims to help us understand race equity and inclusivity as it relates to one’s personal yoga practice and in teaching yoga.

Panelists: Amita Bhagat, Diedra Demens, Avery Kalapa, Stephanie Perry-Bush, Heather Haxo Phillips, and Bryan Thompson

Facilitators: Venetia Bailey, Hayat Bain, Mistah Coles, Lynda Davis, Chuck Cogliandro, Chris Dolin, Rossanna Echegoyén, Brittany Harris, Tanya Pruett, Anja Lee.

Donations to support this important work are welcomed.
