IYNAUS scheduled a day each month to spotlight one Level 3 CIYT, offering them an opportunity to contribute their time and teach a one-and-a-half-hour class.
February 17, 8:00 a.m. PST / 11:00 a.m. EST – Light on Padmasana with Vimla Maharaj-Banks
How often does one delay or frown on learning Padmasana? One will be taught skillful meditative actions to get into Padmasana and variations. This leads to longer sitting times for pranayama and japa practices, which allows the inner energy to rise effortlessly and bring grace, poise, and radiance to the sadhaka.
About Vimla Maharaj-Banks
I was referred to Iyengar Yoga in 1993 in South Florida because of severe sciatica pain. The pain was gone after the first class with my first teacher, Kandy Love. I am a native of Trinidad and grew up in Canada and parts of the US. In yoga, I started to learn how to align the body and the mind to the innate rhythm of healing. Cultivating an alert, peaceful mind has been an asset to practicing dentistry for 25 years. I am blessed to study with the finest Iyengar teachers on this path. I studied with Geetaji and Prashantji in Pune, India. Guruji in Estes Park and Abhijata in conventions. Currently, I am studying with Gloria Goldberg and Gitte Bechsgaard. Both parents started yoga at age 68. I witnessed and learned from sharing this rich subject with them till their shifts. Guruji’s quote, “to live fully and die majestically.” My twin sister, Vindra, and I experienced that joy with them. With this blessing, I am here to share this knowledge with others, to bring light on their paths so we all learn together and light the way for others.
