IYNAUS is delighted to present Spotlighting Level 3 CIYTs.

IYNAUS scheduled a day each month to spotlight one Level 3 CIYT, offering them an opportunity to contribute their time and teach a one-and-a-half-hour class.

September 28, 2:00 p.m. EDT – Churning Nature, Quiet Consciousness with Jennie Williford

Twisting postures (parivrtta sthitti) have admittedly never truly been easy, but for me, they have revealed themselves as a pathway to internal stability that quiets my mind. For the external body to twist around and within itself, there are many elements and obstacles to contend with. However, like the churning of Mt. Meru in the ocean (see Tree of Yoga pages 58 and 59), the twisting of all those elements in nature can bring about the elixir of life. This class will explore ways to create space and extension for more peaceful and breathable twisting from hips to shoulders and everything in between. Working with the push and pull of our external nature in balance with the inhalation and exhalation of the breath, the churn of our bodies could indeed turn out the elixir of yoga, a more quiet consciousness.

Jennie Williford - Twists

About Jennie:
Jennie Williford has taught Iyengar Yoga for over 20 years, living in four states – Wisconsin (currently teaching for The Yoga Place in La Crosse), Montana (presently teaching online for Riverstone Yoga Center in Kalispell), Illinois, and Texas. Throughout her life moves and five trips to RIMYI, Jennie has acquired a well-rounded and multi-faceted approach to Iyengar Yoga since her start in 1998. Her primary teachers throughout her years of study have been Laurie Blakeney and Chris Saudek, and she currently studies online regularly with Gulnaaz Dashti.
Jennie loves yoga’s experimental and explorative nature in accessing deeper knowledge of the Self on every level. Yoga can be intense and introspective; however, as practitioners and teachers, we can be light-hearted and open-minded in our discipline. Jennie has a deep and intense curiosity about the traditions and philosophy of yoga. She hopes to share this depth of subject while teaching the physical and mental benefits that come from the practice of posture.
