Community

Since the inception of the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS), the organization has held conventions at venues across the United States.

The purpose of Iyengar conventions is to bring the U.S. Iyengar Yoga community together to practice, study yoga, and disseminate the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar.  Conventions often have a focused theme and feature classes and teachings led by members of the Iyengar family or senior teachers trained by the Iyengars. 

Study, Practice, Build Friendships

Attending an Iyengar Yoga convention is a complete immersion into Iyengar Yoga.  The experience brings together yoga teachers and practitioners of all levels from all over the United States.  In addition to asana and pranayama classes, conventions may highlight yoga demonstrations, sessions on the medical and therapeutic applications of yoga, a marketplace where students and certified teachers can explore props, books, apparel, and other items related to yoga.  Other events include welcome sessions, banquets, membership meetings, and specialized breakout sessions.  The time at Iyengar Yoga conventions is rich in study, practice, and building friendships.
