Heathen Hill Yoga in the Catskill Mountains


Summer at Heathen Hill Yoga provides the perfect setting to dedicate time to deepen your yoga practice. We will gather together for practice sessions that allow the time to explore the subtle aspects of practicing with “effortless effort.” The morning classes will focus on finding that balance through active sequences that thoroughly delve into standing poses, forward and backward bendings and twists. Our late afternoon classes will expand on the theme from the perspective of restorative postures, inversions and pranayama (breath work).

During your free time you can take a dip in the swimming hole, hike the labyrinth and/or trails, hot tub, read or nap in a hammock, play games, or meditate. All of our meals are nurturing, delicious and made-with-love with most ingredients picked from the huge organic garden at Heathen Hill.

This workshop is for seasoned practitioners who are dedicated to penetrating the surface of the rich practice of asana and pranayama. Please bring an open mind, a full heart and a learner’s inquisitiveness.

· We will be retreating for four days!!

· Accommodations There is now a private apartment in the Big Heathen House (Bunkhouse Apartment) with a kitchen, bedroom, living area and bath (accommodates one person).

· Herbal mini-workshop with Lisa King – an optional add-on to your retreat with Heathen Hill’s herbalist, Lisa King. Lisa says that “Since early July is prime time for St. John’s Wort, we’ll be making St. John’s Balm. It’s a soothing, effective balm that reduces pain and inflammation in muscles and joints. We all can use it from time to time!” You will stroll the property with Lisa to pick St. John’s Wort, and then make a bottle of St. John’s Balm to take home. There will be a separate fee for this mini-workshop.

Yoga Class: 5:00-6:30 pm
Cocktails: Bring your own beverage
Dinner: 7:30 pm

Friday and Saturday

Breakfast: self-serve, any time
Yoga Class: 9:30 -12:00 pm
Lunch: 12:15 pm
On Saturday -Mini-Workshop with herbalist, Lisa King (optional): 1:00 – 2:30 pm “Make Your Own St. John’s Balm”
Rest and Play time: relax, swim, hike the labyrinth and/or trails, hot tub, read or nap in a hammock, play games, meditate
Yoga Class: 4–6:00 pm
Cocktails: Bring your own beverage
Dinner: 7:30 pm (followed by evening gathering around the bonfire on Saturday)


Breakfast: self-serve, any time
Yoga Class: 9:30 –12:00 pm
Brunch: 12:15 pm
Departure: 2:00 pm


General Practitioners with one year Iyengar Yoga experience or related yoga experience


$900 and up (depending on type of accomodation) - all inclusive of yoga, meals , room and use of property
