Yoga for Menopause and Beyond: The Changes at Midlife and Bone Health with Bobby Clennell

Saturday, August 29, 2020 to Sunday, August 30, 2020

A look at how yoga should be practiced throughout our lives, from childhood, through puberty, pregnancy, menopause, post menopause and beyond.

9am – 12noon
Maintaining a Cyclically Responsive Practice. Since a whole month’s practice yields results during menstruation itself, we need to know how to synchronize our practice with the hormonal
ups and downs of the month. Bobby shows us how to maintain a cyclically responsive practice that boosts fertility, keeps our menstrual cycles healthy and regular (avoidance of Uterine
Fibroids, Endometriosis, Ovarian Cysts, and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), and draws us back to nature’s laws. This sequence will include a premenstrual practice (particularly relevant if your
period is late), prevention of Menstrual Cramps and helping prevent a Heavy Menstrual Flow.
2 – 5pm
Just as physical and psychological disturbances occur when menstruation begins, you have to face them again at menopause. Although this is a critical period of adjustment, a
balanced practice can transform menopause into a positive and meaningful experience. We will also explore the challenges and rewards of the postmenopausal phase. Allowing the
weight to pass through the bones is essential for skeletal health. In this class, we adjust these postures to a women’s needs, whether she is approaching menopause, or in post menopause.

9am – 12noon
Supported Backbends stimulate the adrenals and produce estrogen. They help us deal with low energy, and feelings of loneliness, emptiness and depression. In addition, these poses
energize the nervous system, boost circulation throughout the body and give us courage.
We will learn to navigate through this transition with the Forward extensions which help us deal with feelings of laziness, tiredness, mental lethargy and hot flashes; and Supine poses, and
Pranayama which calm the nerves, bring emotional balance, and enhance the functioning of the endocrine system.

Fee: $70 per session. $260 for the whole workshop $250 early bird price - sign up by August 1, 2020.
