Therapy Ambassador FAQ's

What are the benefits to becoming an Iyengar Yoga Therapy Ambassador?

Participants in our program often express the desire to bring more whole-person caring to their patients. They cite a desire to learn about yoga therapy applications and so they can pass on this information to their patients. This program provides a flexible and affordable option for those who don’t have the time to pursue a fulltime yoga teaching career. Once accepted, Ambassadors will have access to exclusive member only benefits that include photos, demonstration videos, educational lectures, yoga sequences for specific ailments, scholarships, research updates, and pamphlets for patients and colleagues.

Which Iyengar Yoga workshops/classes qualify for the ambassador program?

Any minor ailments or specialized courses/workshop or class taught by a CIYT (Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher) meets the qualification standards of the ambassador program. For example, an Iyengar Yoga workshop or class focusing on menstruation or low back pain would qualify, while an Iyengar Yoga workshop on inversions or arm balances would not qualify. Please email us with any clarifications at: Research@iynaus.org

How long does it take to become an Iyengar Yoga Therapy Ambassador?

This is a stepwise program that is designed to be completed at your own pace. It is possible to complete the program in three months, while others may choose to spread out class requirements over 1.5 years. There is no time limit or restraint with this program.

Can an Iyengar Yoga Therapy Ambassador teach yoga?

No, this is a registry and does not certify you to teach yoga classes. It gives you the experience, online tools and resources to be able to refer your patients or coworkers to safe and highly qualified Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers (CIYTs). You will also receive access to online pamphlets, and sequences for specific conditions that you may handout to your patients.

Do the classes have to be taught by a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher?

Yes

Does the teacher of the yoga classes/workshops need to be a certain certification level?

All classes and workshops must be taught by a CIYT (Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher) to qualify. We highly encourage you to take from more senior and advanced CIYTs if you have the opportunity, but classes/workshops from any current CIYT are acceptable.
